H&F Customer golf day Barrow Golf club  2nd August 2017

This year saw a return to Barrow golf club, we last held the customer day at Barrow in 2002. The memories came flooding back, so much so that we reproduced a newsletter from one of the golf weeks at Barrow, those that met Elvis will never forget. The day saw 75 golfers competing for the main customer prize as well as a ladies prize and longest drive & nearest the pin. Of course once again we had a car on offer for a hole in one on the 12th as well as other prizes on every par three.

Last year at Grange was like a duel in the Sun and whilst we did have rain this year, the competitors made the best out of the conditions. The early starters saw the worst of the weather but by the middle of the afternoon and early evening the weather improved and we even saw blue sky for a while.

Those that arrived in the morning were able to practice their putting by playing for a beer, a bottle of wine or a bottle of champagne. We must have some good putters because five bottles of champagne were won on the day, this was all in aid of charity and raised over £70.

The tough conditions certainly saw the scores drop over previous years, with  Dan Brough winning for the second year running with a score of 36 points, I feel a handicap cut coming for next year’s competition. 2nd place Alan Milmine 34 points and 3rd place Ken Fisher with 33 points.

Congratulations to the ladies winner Sarah Cousins, with Linda Dixon and Paula Knott in 2nd and 3rd respectively. I thought it was fantastic to see the longest drive being won by Sarah Cousins beating all the men! H&F are an equal opportunities company.

Finally the staff prize was taken by Kevin D Walsh, we as staff look forward to the day not only to get out of the office but because we know so many of you beyond our customer relationship and we like to see you all having a good time. Hope to see you all again next year but I’m going to work on my short game, can’t let the staff prize go 3 years on the trot!
